It's always a great event when Bedford County has the opportunity to welcome a new, high-quality manufacturer to the area. That's exactly what happened when Captive-Aire announced it will open a facility in Bedford County's business Park 1.
Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Captive-Aire is the top producer of commercial kitchen ventilation systems in North America. Its systems can be found in most of the major national restaurant chains, as well as in more upscale facilities including the Bedford Springs Resort.
Dennis Yablonsky, Secretary of the PA Department of Community and Economic Development was happy to help announce the company's decision to set up in Bedford County. The facility will create 75 jobs with additional benefits spinning off as a result of increased activity at local businesses.
"Captive-Aire's decision clearly shows that PA has become a desirable location for manufactures." Yablonsky said.
Expansion of the bulding in Bedford Business Park I, from 67,000 square feet to 84,000 square feet, is well underway. Costs for the total project are estimated at $6 million with a state investment of $2.9 million in package that includes low interest loans, grants and tax incentives. The majority of the state assistance will come in the form of low interest loans: a $1.35 million loan from the state's Machinery and Equipment Loan fund and a $1.24 million loan through the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority.
"Bedford County is one of the most improved economies in Pennsylvania," Yablonsky noted, "with more to come."
