Lampire Biological Laboratories continues its dedicated pursuits in workforce education and development. Recently, the company’s efforts with the Greater Johnstown Career and Technical Center were cited for program excellence and collaboration by the state Bureau of Career and Technical Education, a division of the Department of Education. Lampire won the Education Workforce Leadership Award.

"We have been working, informally, with Rosalind Servinsky at Johnstown CTC for a long time," said Greg Krug, founder and CEO of Lampire Biological Labs. "This collaboration is part of our long-term support of Pennsylvania’s investments in the industry. We feel we have a stake in making Pennsylvania competitive in the bio-sciences."

Krug and Lampire have been strong advocates for the creation of an excellent workforce for the entire region. While Lampire’s facilities are located in Bedford County, Krug believes the feeder program that is being created in Johnstown will lead to an excellent regional workforce that will benefit everyone.

"We will continue to work with students in the region—from Bedford's Technical Center to the Windber Institute and the Biotech Incubator in Cambria County. By working together, we can attract biotech companies to the area. That’s the most important thing we can do," Krug noted.

Lampire has collaborated on a variety of student initiatives, from attending trade shows with students to internships and summer camps.

Lampire is an active member of GJCTC's and Bio Tech Center's Biotechnology Advisory Committees. The company also provides curriculum advice and has been a strong advocate for grants and programs that will help students get the biotech training needed for a successful career in the industry.
