At 19, Jeremy Buterbaugh says he believes he has a long, productive career ahead of him in a profession for which he's been well prepared. Jeremy, a Bedford native, is a welder for Corle Building Systems in Imler and recently gained certification through a tough Canadian Standards Association program that all Corle welders must pass. Jeremy first learned his trade as a student at the Bedford County Technical Center, and says, "I felt very well prepared to step into the industry because of that training. It gave me a good foundation in the basics."

Jeremy says he likes his job at Corle because "there's a lot of variety. We've all been cross-trained so I'm doing something different almost everyday." During a week, he may run computer-controlled punch and flange machines, weld splices together or weld rigid frame members on the trusses, beams and columns that make up the components of the company's custom-designed steel buildings. "The company provided me with a great deal of training and I was able to pass one of the most stringent certifications in the industry because of it," he says. "I chose my career in part so I could stay in the area and because I enjoy the work. It's a winning combination."
