Dealing with competition is no secret for Rockland Manufacturing Company.

As far as Rockland Manufacturing is concerned, there is no secret to attaining great success in business.

“Rockland’s history of success is primarily due to two things:  Our people and our culture,” according to Bill Pratt, Director of Research and Development, Rockland.

Rockland continues to grow in its marketplace and is a leader in heavy equipment manufacturing.

“We have expanded into a third location,” said Pratt. “We continue to launch new products and services,” he said. “We are applying IOT (Internet of Things) technology to our products.”

“I appreciate our competition,” said Bill Pratt, “I love our competitors and hate them at the same time.  It’s a love-hate relationship.”

Pratt appreciates Rockland’s competition. “They show us our short-comings, often where it hurts the most – in our wallet. Competition drives Rockland’s evolution. They challenge us to get better every day,” he noted.

The healthy culture of the company was created and fostered by Sam Pratt over 50 years ago.

“Safety, Quality, Respect and Teamwork are the foundation of Rockland’s culture,” said Pratt.  “When combining these behaviors with a team that likes to win and get things done – you have a really special environment, one that fosters success.”

“People here embrace our culture,” he said.  “As a result, we are actively challenging and changing everything.”

Pratt said that the Rockland team is not afraid to ask “Why?”

Rockland likes to have a full understanding of a project before it is started.

President Bo Pratt of Rockland, demands that initiatives be measurable and support the strategic goals of the company.  His systematic leadership style tends to get the results they are looking for whenever they execute a project.  “Bo has the discipline to get into the details and grind out assumptions that might bite us later.  He really helps facilitate the win,” said Pratt.

“People like to win, which is why we have a gainsharing program at Rockland.  The more money the company makes, the more money the individual makes – it’s a positive loop.  And we plan to keep winning because winning makes Rockland a fun place to work,” Pratt said.
