Jennifer Marsh Appointed President & CEO of BCDA

The Bedford County Development Association (BCDA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Marsh as its new President & CEO, effective July 1, 2025. Marsh brings experience in economic development, organizational leadership, and fostering public-private partnerships to her new role leading the county’s economic development initiatives.

Marsh succeeds Bette Slayton, who is retiring after 35 years of transformational leadership at the helm of BCDA.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jen Marsh as the next leader of BCDA,” said Jeff Crist, Chair of the BCDA Board of Directors. “Her strategic approach, commitment to community growth, and demonstrated success in advancing economic opportunities make her the right person to guide the organization forward.”

Prior to joining BCDA, Marsh served as Director of Corporate Communications at Meritus Health in Hagerstown, MD. In that position, she was responsible for strategic, operational, and fiscal management, managing a $1.2 million department budget. Her leadership is marked by collaboration, innovation, and a results-driven focus.

“I’m honored to take on this role and to build upon the legacy that Bette Slayton and the BCDA team have established,” said Marsh. “Bedford County has a strong economic foundation and tremendous potential. I look forward to working with local leaders, businesses, and residents to help the region grow and thrive.”

As BCDA enters this new chapter, the organization remains committed to its core mission: supporting existing businesses, attracting new investment, strengthening the workforce, and enhancing the overall quality of life in Bedford County.

“With Jen stepping in as the new President and CEO of BCDA, the organization is in excellent hands,” Slayton said. “Jen is a smart, experienced professional who brings energy, creativity, and a deep sense of optimism to the role. I have every confidence she will do an outstanding job.”
